VITAMIN D
Derrick Brown, known in the music world as Vitamin D, is a DJ, producer, and performer with deep roots in the Pacific Northwest hip-hop scene. His production and performance credits include work with Macklemore, 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar, Nas, Black Sheep, Snoop Dogg, and countless local artists.
At The Residency, Derrick brings more than two decades of experience to the classroom, guiding young artists through beat-making, recording, mixing, and song structure while grounding them in hip-hop’s history and culture. His workshops give students the chance to create original tracks, collaborate with peers, and build the confidence to step into the industry with real skills.
For Derrick, teaching isn’t just about music—it’s about opening doors. He uses his lived experience to mentor the next generation, helping them grow as creators, collaborators, and leaders in their communities.
