The Residency Alumni Showcase | Climate Pledge Arena

We are starting the year off with good energy and a vision towards the future. We want to share our last event of 2023, which gives you the excitement we all see for 2024. Take a peek inside The Residency Alumni Showcase in support of Macklemore’s “The BEN Tour” at Climate Pledge Arena. We are inspired, motivated and ready for the future!

Special thanks to Macklemore and his manager Ben Secord for their continued support and for their work as The Residency board members. We look forward to continuing to serve our youth and community, stay tuned-in for exciting updates!

The Residency Program Overview

“The Residency seeks to build a powerful community of young hip-hop artists equipped with the artistic and leadership skills, business acumen, and mentorship necessary to become professional artists and cultural change makers.”

Through their participation in The Residency, young artists from low-income families in the Seattle area acquire tangible artistic and professional skills while also gaining confidence, teamwork, and a deepened understanding of their identity.

The Residency Presents - SESSIONS: “The Poetic Approach" w/ Master Teaching Artist S A X G. This writers workshop is centered around conceptual art and the importance of purpose within the music artist make. Participants will explore an in-depth, self-generated, list of "things" to consider before, while and after they make and share their music and artwork. In solidarity with Black Lives Matter Seattle - King County, we will be observing the statewide general strike on Friday, June 12. We will be postponing all of our scheduled events on that day and taking the day off in support and solidarity of the Black Lives Matter movement. #BlackLivesMatter

@the_residency_ 2020 Summer Program Update With careful consideration, we have decided not to host an in-person summer intensive this year due to COVID-19. It’s a disappointing outcome because the summer intensive is a core part of The Residency and it is always one of the highlights of our year. However, with so much uncertainty before us, it feels like the most responsible thing to do to ensure the safety and well being of our community. Instead, we will be offering virtual programming this summer. . At The Residency, it is important for us to continue to provide financial opportunities to teachers and participants, create engaging programming, and engage with our current alumni and new aspiring artists. Of course, we’d always prefer to build community in person, but we will develop online programming for this summer with these principles in mind. . We will have an application available on social media and our website soon, so stay connected to theresidencyseattle.org. Thank you for your support of The Residency.
