King 5 Evening: How The Residency is helping Northwest kids...
September 9, 2019. King 5 Evening featured a series on The Residency. “For artists like Tacoma’s Mathew "King" Quest, The Residency is a lot more than just spitting rhymes. I just thought, oh it's going to be a hip-hop camp I can get better at rapping. It's way more than that," said Quest. "We learn staging. We learn articulation in our rap. A lot of stuff in the music business. And then also learned about identity and like finding ourselves."

Macklemore and Alaska Airlines Surprise Residency Youth with Trip to LA
We teamed up with Alaska Airlines to fly nearly 40 members of The Residency program to LA for a music and culture packed weekend. Participants visited the Underground Museum, learned from a panel of industry experts at the Grammy Museum and saw Drake and The Migos at Staples Center. It was an amazing weekend made possible by the incredible partnership with Alaska.
City Arts Magazine: Rising from The Residency
City Arts Magazine did a great feature on the class of 2018 Showcase performance at MoPOP’s Sky Church. All 45 youth from the program took the stage to perform in front of a sold out crowd. Read the full piece here.
Alaska Airlines Surprises Students from The Residency
As part of their three year commitment to the program, Alaska Airlines surprised all of the participants from The Residency and flew them down to Phoenix in October of 2017 for Macklemore's show as part of the Gemini World Tour.
City Stream: High-Rise Recording Studio
The Residency is featured on the Seattle Channel, as participants record in W Seattle's brand new Sound Suite studio in the summer of 2017.
